Now What?

With the Caps lose, winter is now over in the Baltimore,Washington area. Now What? Should I start watching the Orioles try not to lose 90 games. The Redskins have some mini camps/ota’s in June.

I have searched for this answer and have found that some important events are coming up soon:

1) The NBA Draft Lottery- The Wizards are in a great spot to win the first pick in the NBA draft. This means Blake Griffin. If Mr. Griffin comes to Washington, the Wizards will instantly be relevant again.

2) Matt Weiters- When the Orioles decide to call Matt Weiters up from Norfolk, the Orioles already potent offense will be even better. His game calling may take time, but he needs to start somewhere. He seems to be struggling this season. He his batting .263 with only one homer in 27 games. Maybe the Orioles will wait for him to heat up before they call him up.

3)Hershey Bears- The weather is improving, so why not take a trip north to delicious Hershey PA. You can spend the day at Hershey Park and then cross the parking lot to Giant Center and watch the AHL Conference Finals between the Bears and Providence Bruins.

As you can see, there is enough to keep us occupied until Football season starts. On the national level, enjoy the Stanley Cup playoffs, the NBA playoffs, and even NASCAR. The Autism Speaks 400 is at Dover in 2 weeks.

The Pittsburgh Flightless Birds are going to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Penguins killed the Caps 6-2 in game 7 of the Eastern Conference semis. That is it, the season is over for Washington. The series lived up to all the hype and most of it was entertaining. Pittsburgh outplayed the Caps in every game; they out shot, out hustled and were more disciplined. Along the same lines and since the series is over, I can’t bite my tongue anymore. The referees were awful. The Caps lost because they were outplayed, but I can’t not think that the outcome may have been different if the penalty’s were more even. The Caps did commit more penalty’s, but the Penguins committed their fair share and didn’t get called foe them. Never the less, it is over. Thank you for a great season!

After coming back from a 2-0 and 3-1 deficit against the Rangers, the Caps will face the flightless birds on Derby Day. If you are the NHL, is the rebirth complete. The sports 2 biggest and 2 best stars will be slugging it out for a trip the the Eastern Conference finals. The game will at 2pm in the east on NBC (for our Canadian viewers CBC). With the game taking place on a Sunday on free TV, I predict that this game will get some nice ratings. So will it live up to the hype?

The Rangers won 2-1 to take a 3-1 series league over the Caps. The Caps have dominated the games, but have only one win to show for it. I don’t believe the Rangers are a good team. It looks like the Caps are wearing them out. There is one reason for the Rangers success. His name is Henrik Lundqvist. He stopped 38 of 39 shots. If the Rangers hold on to win, it will because of Lundqvist.

So much has happened since my last post. Shall we begin?

UNC is the 2009 NCAA Mens Basketball National Champions. The game was ugly. It was over 10 minutes into the game. The final score was 72-89. There isn’t anything else to be said.

Jeff Gordon finaly won won at Texas. With the win, he ended a 47 race winless streak and he got his first career Texas win.

The Orioles chrushed the Yankees on 10-5 openig day. All Yankee fans can talk about the way Mark Teixeira was treated.

The Capitals clinched the Southeast division in their final homestand of the season.

Ryan Briscoe wins the Indy Car Season opener in St. Petersburg.

If the NHL playoffs started today…

Nothing special would happen in the West, but in the East…Oh Boy.
Bruins and Habs, Rangers and Devils, Caps and Canes and Pens and Flyer’s, What do all these teams have in common? Each team plays in the same division as their opponents and they are all rivals. I’m not one for making “if” statements, but I thought this was amusing.
